Fortunately, the latest bug falls into the former category, as it is a strange issue that has no negative impact on gameplay. Visual glitches have often been the most entertaining issues in Call of Duty: Warzone, and while the discovery of a headless Operator is not quite as shocking as the recent N64 Caldera glitch, it is certainly interesting. However, while the visual glitches are all in good fun, they are indicative of a larger pattern and show why a Call of Duty: Warzone sequel is needed.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Headless Operator Shows The Need For a Sequel

The bug in question was shared by Twitter user @Loui_CM, and it actually impacts the skin from the Season 2 Battle Pass bundle. The outfit in question is for the Operator and campaign character Wade, and it is called “Bundled Up.” The normal version of the skin is impressive, as it features a neat gas mask and complex outfit for Wade. However, while @Loui_CM loves the look of the skin in its promo image, the preview is a different case.

Once the Call of Duty: Warzone player zooms in on the skin, they see that Wade’s head has completely disappeared. The streamer then goes silent, shocked by what they are seeing. Every other part of the Wade cosmetic remains, making for an unsettling visual. The moment also reflects the state of the game, and it is yet another example that Warzone is simply becoming too much to manage.

In the recent press event where Activision and Raven Software confirmed Call of Duty: Warzone 2, Raven admitted that some mistakes were made with the original game. Not only did the Call of Duty developer point out the negative response to Caldera, but it made it clear that integration with Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard was never the plan. Said integration has led to far too much content to keep track of, making it hard to find all the bugs and weed them out in a timely matter.

Given how many other glitches present in Call of Duty: Warzone, from an entirely invisible Gulag to Operator noses getting in the way of weapon sights, the beloved battle royale title is more unstable than it has ever been. While Raven has already confirmed that a fix for the invisible head bug is coming, this issue is yet another example of the game’s buggy state. With so many problems, it is hard not to look forward to the fresh start that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will seemingly provide. Being a new game that will likely focus entirely on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 content, Raven should be able to keep the experience polished and enjoyable. Considering how bloated the original Warzone has become, it is not too shocking that things have gotten out of hand.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
