Plunder is a version of Call of Duty: Warzone that’s very well regarded. Where Warzone is much more of a traditional battle royale with a shrinking circle, Plunder focuses on some exciting new battle royale ideas like leaving the map open. Plunder, rather than focusing on eliminating enemies so they don’t return, instead focuses on killing players with lots of loot and kills. These players drop more money, and money is the currency of victory in Plunder. The constant respawning and push to be aggressive makes it great for teams and more casual players.

Plunder Quads, the now removed mode, was a popular version of an already popular Plunder. It lets players team with up to three friends to take on the battle royale together. Given the more casual-friendly nature of Plunder in general, it works great for big teams like quads. In a normal Warzone match, it’s not uncommon for teammates to die early and have to sit out the full match. Plunder fixes that.
On April 16, Plunder Quads is gone from Call of Duty: Warzone, replaced by Plunder Duos. Plunder Quads was never planned to be a permanent fixture in Call of Duty: Warzone, but nevertheless the change came as surprise to a lot of fans who loved it. Duos means teams that were playing together just this past week now have to split. There are going to be some hurt feelings.
Coincidentally, in the same update Infinity Ward also brought back Trios in standard Warzone because fans wanted it back. Perhaps if fans make their voices heard, Plunder Quads will be brought back sooner rather than later.
The good news is that Infinity Ward is highly responsive to player data and community feedback, even if it can’t always follow through on requests. If fans vocalize their desire for Plunder Quads to return and if the data shows that it was a more popular mode than other Plunder modes, it’ll be back soon. It’ll probably never be permanent, as Infinity Ward likes to shake things up, but it’s still something worth looking forward to.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
