Despite Scream being advertised heavily in Call of Duty: Warzone with the special Scream bundle and in other ways, it’s been discovered that the game doesn’t let players use the word “scream” when naming their loadouts. This is a rather bizarre restriction, as the word “Scream” is currently plastered everywhere in Call of Duty: Warzone, so it seems especially strange that the profanity filter would single it out.

If someone were to purchase the Call of Duty: Warzone Scream bundle and then decide to create a loadout based on the content in that bundle, they can’t name their custom loadout after the film franchise it’s based on. They can name the bundle “screa” or even “cream,” but the full word “scream” is not allowed by Call of Duty: Warzone’s profanity filter for unknown reasons.
This isn’t the first time that a Call of Duty profanity filter had fans scratching their heads, but this instance stands out because of the Scream content that was just added to the game. Purchasers of the Call of Duty: Warzone Scream bundle get some custom weapon blueprints for their troubles as well as a special knife pulled straight from the Scream movies. It stands to reason that someone would want to name the loadout they make based on this content “Scream” so that they can easily identify it when sifting through their loadouts, but it’s currently not possible in the battle royale game.
It’s unclear if Activision will bother changing this or not. It likely has some bigger fish to fry when it comes to Call of Duty: Warzone updates, as some big changes are in store for the game in the very near future. While a specific date hasn’t been announced yet, Call of Duty: Warzone is integrating with Call of Duty: Vanguard soon, and that will include the debut of a brand new map based on the Pacific theater of World War 2.
More information on the new Call of Duty: Warzone map and other new content should come to light in the weeks ahead.
