Dataminer AlfaTheseus has found a model for the RC-XD car from Black Ops, as well as a U-2 plane that resembles Black Ops’ Spy Plane. This combined with a nuclear warhead found in Bunker 11 has led some to believe that Warzone is adding Black Ops-related content as part of an upcoming crossover with that sub-series. While unconfirmed, this would actually make a great deal of sense for a few reasons.

One, this lines up with previous leaks about how Activision will reveal Call of Duty 2020, presumably titled Call of Duty: Vietnam. According to longtime Call of Duty series leaker TheGamingRevolution, Call of Duty 2020 will first be teased in Warzone itself. And if the rumors about Call of Duty 2020’s Cold War setting and it being a part of the Black Ops series are true, then it’s no big surprise that dataminers have found these things in the update files.
Secondly, Infinity Ward has said that Call of Duty: Warzone will feature Fortnite-style events. Having a crossover with Black Ops would certainly generate quite a bit of buzz, and make sure that Call of Duty fans tune in for the event, especially if it’s all a set up to unveil Call of Duty 2020 to the world.
And finally, it’s been said that Call of Duty: Warzone will be a constant, even as new Call of Duty games are released. If that’s true, it would be important for Warzone to encompass all of the Call of Duty franchise. Assuming the rumors are true about Call of Duty 2020 and it will be a Cold War-set game, then adding this content would be a good way to connect Warzone and the new title.
Call of Duty: Warzone fans will want to keep an eye out as they explore the battle royale map in case they find any new hints about the possible Black Ops crossover. And in the meantime, they should stay tuned for an official Call of Duty 2020 reveal at some point in the coming weeks.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
