The Warzone glitch makes it so that some players can approach and attack their enemies without getting killed themselves, similar to a glitch in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Reddit user RaviVora randmoly encountered the glitch and shared a video of it via the game’s subreddit. The glitch put RaviVora’s team in a frustrating situation, as there was no way to take first place with an unkillable enemy on the map.

This isn’t the first major glitch that Warzone players have had to deal with since the game’s release last month. Earlier this month, a Reddit user discovered and posted a glitch that allows players to hide in walls. There have been calls from the community for Infinity Ward to address both the wall glitch and the newer invincibility glitch, especially as the latter glitch makes some games unwinnable. Neither glitch has been fixed yet.
On April 13, Infinity Ward announced that it had banned 70,000 players for cheating in Warzone. The developer announced further updates will be coming to the game’s security and in-game reporting systems. Although the exact conditions for creating the invincibility glitch are unknown as of now, some players believe that respawning in the Gulag in a certain way can trigger the glitch.
Although it doesn’t look like anyone has created a method of manipulating the glitch, some users in RaviVora’s Reddit thread have claimed to also have encountered invincible enemies in their games. If anyone were to learn how to replicate invincibility, however, it would likely get them banned by Infinity Ward due to the developer’s zero-tolerance policy for cheating. Abusing a glitch to win a few matches and getting banned soon after wouldn’t be worth it.
But as long as the glitch exists in-game, random players may still be affected by it and get locked into impossible matches. Regardless, players can hope that the community will continue to report bugs in Warzone and display sportsmanship and skill over cheating. The player community seems to be mostly positive and focused on sharing the enjoyment of a great game, which has even led to humorous moments like one player sparing their downed enemy with a thumbs-up. Hopefully Infinity Ward will fix the glitch soon, and let players get back to their hard-earned wins.
Call of Duty: Warzone was released on March 10, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

This exploit was shared online by Reddit user Matt5hew, who revealed how to do it. Basically, if Call of Duty: Warzone players buy a teammate back after the circle has closed, that teammate will spawn in the air and be completely invincible, at least when it comes to taking damage from the gas. This lets them simply hover in the sky, not taking any damage, and letting the gas kill their enemies on the ground.

It’s unclear if this Call of Duty: Warzone invincibility exploit was in the game prior to the April 28 update, but it’s far from the only invincibility glitch that’s been discovered in Call of Duty: Warzone. A different Call of Duty: Warzone invincibility glitch also happens when the circle is closed, with players sometimes becoming invincible after going down and being revived.
Considering how Call of Duty: Warzone players could exploit these invincibility glitches to completely ruin the game for others, one has to imagine that Infinity Ward will address them with a patch sooner rather than later. Infinity Ward has been relatively quick when it comes to patching bugs and other issues with Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare, releasing updates for the games on a weekly basis.
Sometimes Infinity Ward even releases multiple updates in a single week, which was the case this past week. Just two days after the April 28 update, another update was released for Call of Duty: Warzone that removed the unpopular Most Wanted contracts and added the regular bounty contracts back to the game following some significant backlash from fans online.
Usually Infinity Ward releases updates for Call of Duty without giving fans too much of a preview of what to expect, but that’s not the case with the upcoming May 5 update. It’s been confirmed that the Call of Duty May 5 update will add new game modes like Gunfight Knives Only and Gun Game Reloaded to the standard Modern Warfare multiplayer, though it is admittedly less clear what Warzone will be getting next week. Hopefully whatever comes includes a fix for this invincibility glitch.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
