For Modern Warfare, the July 21 update brings back standard Ground War, Reinfected Ground War, Cranked, and Gunfight 3v3 - Snipers Only. It also brings back the Shoot the Ship playlist, which is a playlist that exclusively features the smaller-sized maps Shipment and Shoot House. Both maps are pretty popular, but fans have already started complaining on Twitter that Infinity Ward didn’t bring back Shipment 24/7 with the July 21 update.

As far as Warzone goes, Infinity Ward removed Warzone Rumble and Plunder Trios, but added Plunder Quads back to the game. Fans have been waiting for Plunder Quads to make a comeback for quite some time, with some not satisfied with the Blood Money variant that Infinity Ward has been featuring instead. Some fans may be upset that Warzone Rumble is gone again, but others will no doubt be satisfied by the return of Plunder Quads.

Some Call of Duty fans may be anxious for some more substantial updates, but luckily, they shouldn’t have to wait too much longer. Reports indicate that Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 will start at some point in early August, bringing with it a significant influx of new content for both the standard multiplayer and the battle royale. And while nothing official about Warzone Season 5 has been revealed just yet, there have been some teases.

Activision has teased that Warzone Season 5 will add a moving train to the map, presumably with high-tier loot on it as has been seen in other battle royale games. Other map changes have been suggested by leaks and dataminers, like the possibility of Stadium opening up or Dam being destroyed.

There’s also the chance that Warzone Season 5 will officially kick off the Call of Duty 2020 reveal. Reliable Call of Duty franchise leakers have claimed for some time now that Warzone will be used to reveal this year’s Call of Duty, rumored to be titled Black Ops CIA, and so fans of the franchise should definitely be looking forward to early August. In the meantime, they can try their hand at the new playlists that are now live in both Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
